I’m still learning…..

I know….. I know you learn something new every day. And, if you don’t, you should. But these days I’m learning more about running a business. I have been an Arts and crafts type girl all my life. When I was younger I would draw, paint, make bracelets, and make handmade cards for birthdays and holidays, banners, and other memorable gifts for my family and friends. That would be my gift to them, something made especially for them.

So about 2 years ago, after my former best friend and my mother kept on telling me that I should start asking people to pay for my customize birthday banners; I finally did it. 1 and Only Creations is the name of my business. That name came to be because; I was creating the celebratory Banners and Memorable keepsakes especially for that special person. I had in my head that not one banner or anything else that I made would look exactly alike. My goal when crafting each customize product is to creatively bring to life what some say only exists in your imagination.

It Doesn’t feel like Christmas …

At the age of 29, I still get all worked up over the joys and festivities of Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I know the true reason for the season, but I love the feeling of going to shopping for gifts to surprise my friends and loved ones with both a tangible gifts and the gift of love.

From the Boys II Men’s version of “Let it Snow” to the brightly lit Christmas Tree that my mom and I have to twist my brother’s arm to help us decorate. I love it all! Even if there isn’t any gifts under the tree (because sometimes that is the case) At night I would just lounge in the living room and watch  Christmas movies, and write in the company of our creatively decorated Christmas tree.

Here it is December 18th, and I have yet to buy a Christmas tree. In the past, while living home I would constantly nag my mom, then the nagging would turn into and ” friendly threat ” …. Saying to her ” If we don’t have a Christmas Tree, I’m not going to be here Christmas morning”.  I don’t know if my tactics really worked or not, but we had our Christmas tree up and decorated before Christmas morning.

This year is the first year I am really out on my own…. well my brother and I. And I went from asking him “are we getting a tree?”  to telling him “if we don’t have a tree, we won’t have any gifts”.  Once again, we have yet to buy a tree.

A couple of days before my 28th birthday I compiled a list of things that I read, wrote or did on a daily basis. It was entitled 28, because I told myself that would do daily entries just to keep me writing everyday. Needless to say, I didn’t keep up with my daily writing…

In case your wondering, here is my list:

  • Bible Scripture
  • Current Events

So this is what you’ll get from me… with an occasional rant.

Keep in mind, we’re all human 🙂
